After years working in the building design industry, Steven Colakidis saw an opportunity to create something of his own, something that blended his love for design with the flexibility to be present for the moments that matter most. With four young children, family life was full, fast-paced, and incredibly important. Starting his own business became a way to take control of his time, provide for his family, and still be an active part of his kids’ everyday lives.

Composite Design & Drafting began as a solo venture, grounded in Steven’s belief that great design doesn’t just shape buildings it shapes the way people live. He wanted clients to feel supported, heard, and inspired through every stage of their projects, while also creating a lifestyle that allowed him to be there for school drop offs, milestones, and the little day to day moments with his children.

The business quickly earned a reputation for reliable service, clear communication, and thoughtful, practical design. Clients appreciated the hands-on approach, and Steven’s ability to balance creativity with functionality in every project from new homes to smart extensions and property developments.
